VA GOV PITCHES USER-FEE TRANSPORTATION PLAN

Under Kaine's proposal, the auto insurance premium tax would go up by an average of $18 per year on each car and truck. He has also proposed a 2% increase in the auto titling fee. Because heavier vehicles do more damage to the roads, registration fees would increase between $8 and $18, depending on the weight of the car. His plan also calls for increasing the sales tax on autos sold from 3 percent to 5 percent. He also said, "If the ultimate solution, the ultimate compromise includes some gas tax increase, I won't be opposed to that." Sounds as if we are goings to recieve some major tax increases to operate our autos in the state of Va.

I honistly would not mind paying alittle more if it will get some better roads built in our area (CFX) however another part of that artical is what scares me it is the part that states that the pricapal users of the roads would need to foot the bill...what that means to me is the SWVA with its much less dence population will lose out to NOVA and Tide water when it comes to road projects I hate it but I think most of us saw it comming

The part I don't like is the increase from 3% to 5% on the sales tax for autos.

I would not be paing the new tax with a smile LOL but I would not have a problem with it if it meanse new/better roads in SWVA.....However I think it will mean same crappy roads here and 8 lane highways in NOVA which would put me to paing the new tax with a lot of cussing under my breath

That is exactly what it means. That is also why Kaine is pushing so hard. He made quite a few promises to those in NOVA and the Hampton Roads areas.

And Kaine is suspose to have close ties with SWVA.

Oh well had Kilgore just shut the hell up. 15% lead at one point to lose. You know sometimes pays to listen to the older and stupid folks. Even the Repbulican leadership in Richmond told him to. But oh well, to late now.
I guess we will pay for some more for everything East of Roanoke and our own here at home.

You make a good point there.
